Continuous-Loop Packet Capture Appliances
Resources
IPCopper offers both continuous-loop and forensic packet capture appliances. Packet capture appliances with continuous-loop data storage offer long-term, uninterrupted packet capture, recording each and every packet in turn. Once continuous-loop packet capture appliances reach their capacity, they continue recording, overwriting the oldest captured data with the newest. Though the captured data will be overwritten (eventually), in the meantime it cannot be altered or deleted.
Like our forensic-class models, the captured data on our continuous-loop packet capture appliances can be authenticated. Once the continuous-loop packet capture appliance has reached its capacity, however, the oldest data will be lost as it is overwritten by the newest and the appliance will only contain the most recently captured data. Data, once overwritten, cannot be retrieved or authenticated. By comparison, our forensic models cease capturing and processing traffic once they reach capacity, keeping their recorded data permanently intact.
